FAQ
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)
Professional nurses/private caregivers are typically employed for exclusive care cases in hospitals.
Home care needs are usually covered by caregivers with extensive experience in at-home support.
Special or complex cases can be handled by more specialized personnel when required.
Caregivers/private nurses are not live-in staff and do not reside with the person receiving care.
They typically work in shifts ranging from 8 to 12 hours.
By arrangement, they may also work shorter or irregular hours (e.g., a few hours in the morning and a few in the evening), depending on availability.
In exceptional cases and upon request, they may be able to stay overnight with the care recipient to accommodate specific needs.
The responsibilities of private nurses and caregivers are focused exclusively on the care of elderly or ill individuals and meeting their personal needs.
This may include maintaining cleanliness in the care recipient’s personal space and performing tasks related to their well-being (e.g., preparing meals).
However, general household chores such as laundry, ironing, and overall cleaning are considered a separate type of service.
Each case is unique!
That’s why we need a detailed description of your needs, including the days and hours you require the service.
Only then will we be able to suggest the best and most cost-effective option for you.
Our staff is divided into three main categories:
(a) certified private nurses,
(b) caregivers, and
(c) live-in elder companions.
Certified private nurses hold a minimum two-year nursing degree (equivalent to a vocational training diploma) and are registered with the Regional Health Authority. They are legally authorized to work as private nurses in hospitals across the country (Official Government Gazette: 3289/28.06.2022).
Caregivers possess practical knowledge and, most importantly, extensive experience in elderly care.
Live-in elder companions reside with the person receiving care. While they may not have formal qualifications, they often assist with daily care needs as well as general household tasks.
Our external staff (private nurses and caregivers) may come from Greece, Albania, Georgia, Bulgaria, and other countries.
Live-in companions are typically of foreign origin.
The foreign live-in caregivers and caretakers generally speak Greek well, as most of them have been living and working in our country for many years. This is not always the case with live-in helpers, as many of these women have only been in Greece for a few years.
There are male private nurses and caregivers, but availability is extremely limited. As for live-in male caregivers for the elderly — they do not exist.
Private nurses work in shifts and are exclusively focused on the needs of the patient or elderly person. They are paid on a daily wage basis. Live-in caregivers, on the other hand, reside in the home and tend to both the basic needs of the elderly and the general upkeep of the household.
In our initial communication, you provide us with a detailed description of your needs as well as information about the person requiring care. We then begin the search for suitable staff and arrange meetings at the home of the care recipient with potential live-in caregivers for an initial introduction. Once the right person is found, the process is completed.
It’s important to note that the entire recruitment process takes time, as each stage must be carried out properly to ensure the best possible outcome.
There is an obligation to provide both accommodation and meals. Live-in caregivers must have their own personal space, and it is standard practice for them to have one day off per week.
There is a 6-month replacement guarantee at no additional cost.
Private nurses/caregivers are paid according to a standard rate list. Live-in caregivers receive a monthly salary. For these services, there is a one-time agency fee which also includes the 6-month replacement guarantee.
